Ultimately, the goal of the Untraceable City is to answer this question:
Can humans thrive in an urban setting, while nature is being restored, rather than destroyed, through human activities?
In order to answer this question, we have defined a number of parameters, to be taken into account when evaluating ideas. The triple 95 rule states that:
- 95% of the city (including buildings, transportation infrastructure, packaging, machinery...) should be compostable.
- The city should allow ecological functioning of the original ecosystem at 95% of its capacity.
- The happiness level of the city's residents should be at least 95%
Each of these points requires additional elaboration, and we invite people to contribute to (and comment on) these rules. The idea behind the triple 95 rule is that it will allow for more guided discussion, and it forces that some key constraints are taken into account, while still leaving lots of room for out-of-the-box thinking.
